What remains unclear is whether any further software development will take place which currently appears unlikely, as FoMa no longer has a commercial incentive to continue.

It is equally uncertain how long ARRI will continue to supply…

@Eric Fletcher What I’m hearing is that the outstanding debts have apparently been settled, which is why the contract could now be terminated. As mentioned before, the only currently relevant product from FoMa is the Antares.

You can also see this on their website: for Trinity and EVO, ARRI is still listed.

@Eric Fletcher That’s not correct. What’s being spread right now are mostly rumors.

FoMa does not own any intellectual property related to Trinity, Artemis, SRH, or EVO. These are ARRI products and they remain ARRI products. FoMa has always been a supplier and service partner, not the IP holder of the systems.

FoMa only owns IP for its own…

Thanks, Curt, for the update. I would like to point out that both versions we tested are still far away from 1.5. The reason for the frustration is simple: after more than a year, fundamental bugs are still present in both versions. In Reality, apart from fixing the Alexa 35 power issue, nothing has been really Improved.

I was very close to getting one, but after the disastrous experience with SUP 3.0 on set last year and the issues that followed with FoMa, I dropped the idea.

The feedback from colleagues who already have the pan axis only confirmed my decision.

@md73 as a fellow operator, I’m really sorry — I can only imagine how tough this must be.

But, it’s something that never occurred with SUP 1.5, and when I’m traveling, I have to use whatever is available on set, and that’s often just 12V V-mounts or Gold Mounts.

@karsten-jaeger In version 3.0, FoMa completely changed the overall behavior and the PID values, which means you have to run the motor power much higher to achieve the same response as with SUP 1.5.
However, with the ALEXA 35, this causes the camera to lose power even from the slightest touch on the head or when docking.

Honestly, I’ve been thinking about stepping away for months, because I’m tired of seeing my equipment being undermined by the developers’ neglect, in this case, especially FoMa.

For just two or three jobs that would actually require the pan axis, it simply wasn’t worth risking an unstable system and the possibility of a failure on set.

I use the original Segway X2 and I would never step on one of the smaller devices. The first point, as you already mentioned, is the maximum payload: the i2/X2 handles up to 125 kg, while the newer, smaller models are limited to around 90 kg.

Yes, unfortunately these are exactly the issues of the SUP 3.0, which also led to ARRI pulling it back. We are all still waiting for @fomasystems to finally provide us with a production-stable SUP after almost a year. It’s becoming really frustrating.

I think the Logos are laser engraved, so it will be not possible to remove them.. what you can do is rebuilding the logo in photoshop and made a black vinyl sticker with a plotter.

@Felix Lang That might work on smaller productions… I’m sometimes just happy if the DP even talks to me 😂 Like I said, this setup works if you’re shooting in Europe or North America, where we have access to the rentals we’re used to in terms of gear and quality. But try achieving that in Morocco or Bulgaria… 😉

@Felix Lang That’s cool. Unfortunately, my experience has been different in most countries (outside of Europe), that’s not the case. If B-Mounts are available at all, they’re usually reserved for the A-cam, and most of the time it’s the 290Wh ones, which are often too heavy. In most cases, the A35 is run with 24V V-Mount adapters…

I own and use 8× 155 Wh and 6× 90 Wh Bebob Rouge 14V batteries.

With this combination, I’ve had absolutely no issues with the Trinity 2 so far.

However, with firmware 3.0 I’ve experienced serious problems with, especially when working with the ALEXA 35 and Venice 2.

Upgrading to B-Mount isn’t an option at the moment.

Hey matan,

If you have the RF modules, you can easily make the RCP wireless. It can then be operated by the DP, who can control your T2 via the RCP using an LBUS connection with either a joystick or a wheel.

@David Doherty it was for me the best option after my Transvideo 8”. It has an amazing panel and lots of functions, and it’s water-resistant and rigid, and 400 grams lighter than the Transvideo 8”… For me personally, all other monitors are not really steadicam monitors. And the Zen is amazing; it has so many functions. I needed two days to check…
